The bipartisan "War on Drugs" is an authoritarian nightmare, being that it was born out of racism and corporate greed, it's working exactly as it's supposed to. Reports of these being used by @memphispolicedept. A dangerous precedent, and no reports of any of this in our state yet, but here are a few things to keep in mind in case you encounter police with these new “taser shields”.
• If possible, wear a thick leather jacket to protect vital organs.
• Wear leather arm braces and gloves for protecting the face—the thicker, the better.
• Avoid wearing metal of any kind—no jewelry, no belt buckles, etc.
• Rubber soled shoes are your friend.
• It’s getting cold out—thick layers won’t hurt ya, and if it’s warm, get with your street medics for cold packs and ice (or keep some on your person!)
For legal purposes, we will not advocate for throwing salt water balloons (10% salinity level) at police. Be sure to aim only at the shields to shortcircuit them. Also, construction rubberizing spray can ground them out, and insulating spray can trap currents.
As always, verify with comrades who are electrical and/or mechanical engineers. Be safe. Take care of each other.
